Moving out

It is very important that you as a tenant fulfill your obligations before you move out.

Your obligations before you return home

You must remove all your personal belongings and ensure that the furnishings belonging to the apartment are in the same condition as when you moved in.

You have to remove all your personal belongings, and make sure that the thereto belonging furnishings are the same as when you moved in. If you have added any new furniture to the room/apartment, these must be removed before you return the key. Contact the area caretaker for information about where to dispose of the extra furniture.

If we have to remove or replace furniture after you have moved out, you will be charged for that.

Check off each point before you move out:

  • Remove all personal belongings from the apartment/room.
  • Your bed clothes and mattress cover should be washed clean and dried, folded and placed on your bed before you move out.
  • Restore the furniture to as they were when you moved in.
  • Sort any garbage (plastic, metal, cardboard etc.) that you might have. Leave it in designated trash bins after cleaning.

As a tenant, you are responsible for cleaning your own room/apartment during your stay. You are also responsible for keeping the refrigerators, freezers, ovens, and the filter in the cooker hood clean.

Returning keys

Your keys must be returned by the due date and the due time stated in your contract. If you do not return the keys in time, we will change the lock to your apartment/room at your expense. We advise you to return the keys personally, as it often happens that friends forget to give back the keys in time. Remember that you are responsible for the keys until they have been returned to the Housing Office.

The keys should be left directly to Infocenter, Universum, or they can be dropped in the mailbox outside the Aula Nordica entrance. The mailbox is marked “IHO”. When leaving your keys in the mailbox, please put the keys in an envelope and label it with your name, and nothing but your name, for security reasons.
