Three ways to find the nearest defibrillator
Defibrillators are located throughout Umeå University’s campus. You can find them by using Mazemap, Sweden’s Defibrillator Registry (hjärtstartarregistret) or by consulting the list below of where the defibrillators are located.
Find defibrillators on Mazemap
All publicly available defibrillators on Campus Umeå and the Arts Campus are marked on the university's map service Mazemap. If you see a faint blue ring when you open the map, it means that the defibrillator is located on a different floor than the one shown.

The Defibrillator Registry
You can use Sweden’s Defibrillator Registry (hjärtstartarregistret) and the app “Rädda Hjärtat” to find accessible defibrillators.
Go to the Defibrillator Registry (in Swedish)
The Defibrillator Registry is a national registry of available defibrillators in Sweden that are not located in hospitals. The registry collaborates with emergency services through SOS Alarm to identify registered defibrillators for the operator on the map and inform the caller where the nearest defibrillator is located, so that they can help administer potentially lifesaving first aid while waiting for an ambulance.

How does a defibrillator work?
No training is required to use a defibrillator, but it is of course an advantage if you are proficient in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The defibrillator is “smart”, and it is not possible to administer an electrical shock to a person who does not need it. The device provides spoken instructions, analyses the patient’s heart rhythm and recommends whether or not to administer an electric shock. The bag has the defibrillator along with an instruction manual that clearly describes its use if needed.
