Research project The project explores potentially challenging, difficult, or adverse experiences of using psychoactive substances in a group for personal and spiritual development.
Psilocybin and other enthogenic substances such as Ayahuasca have been used in group settings in indigenous communities for thousands of years. Lately, a wellness retreat culture has developed where these medicines are taken in groups for personal and spiritual growth. This project explores potentially adverse experiences when psychedelics are applied in this new setting. The purpose is to mitigate potential psychological and medical risks for participants and to learn how substances potentially can be administered safely and effectively in group settings in future clinical trials.
