Max Renner lab

Research group The Max Renner lab is interested in the molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying viral replication as well as the strategies viruses use to subvert host cells.

RNA viruses are responsible for some of the most devastating human diseases, such as Ebola virus. Upon infecting a host, these viruses take control, reprogramming cells to construct specialized viral factories. Within these structures, the virus's replication and transcription machinery work to generate new viral genomes and mRNAs.

Our research group is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms behind viral transcription and replication, and how the involved proteins intersect with the host cell's components and organelles.
