About the course
The course addresses two key processes and concepts in cognitive linguistic research: metaphor and metonymy. The nature and the theoretical understanding of these processes are studied in detail. On the basis of this theoretical foundation, the use of metaphor and metonymy in a number of discourses is carefully analyzed. The course includes case studies focussing on specific texts from political, scientific, and everyday discourse as well as an individual project where students can focus on specialized discourse from their own scientific background.
